Tamika Washington was a Partner at Legis Group, specializing in probate, real estate, and employment law. Prior to Legis, she founded her own firm and served as a Philadelphia Assistant City Solicitor, litigating hundreds of cases.
Elvin Ross was the founding member of the Legis Group LLC. He focused his practice on M&A transactions, private finance transactions, joint ventures, real estate management and development, franchise agreements, vendor agreements, and the provision of general corporate counsel services.
Elvin Ross was the founding member of the Legis Group LLC. Prior to establishing the firm, Mr. Ross was an associate in the Business and Finance practice group of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and prior to that he served as a federal law clerk in the Southern District of Texas where he advised the Court on various matters of national interest including the Enron litigation. Mr. Ross’ legal experience also included the completion of many merger and acquisition projects, a variety of real estate transactions, numerous public and private investor offerings, the licensing of technology across various industries and the provision of general corporate advice to companies that provide some of the most well known goods and services enjoyed throughout America.
Mr. Ross received his law degree from Texas Southern University, a Masters of Education degree from Drexel University and a Bachelors degree from the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Ross worked for several years at PECO Energy (now Exelon) where he performed financial and technical analysis in connection with evaluating various co-generation energy projects and then for some years as a teacher with the School District of Philadelphia where he taught high school math.
Mr. Ross is a former local President of the National Society of Black Engineers and he is a founding member and former co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Advancing Civics Education Committee. Mr. Ross is an officer of the historic Undine Barge Club located on Philadelphia’s Boathouse Row and he is a member of St. Malachy Roman Catholic Church.

Prior to joining Legis Group, Ms. Washington founded the Law Offices of Tamika Washington, P.C., where she worked tirelessly for 12 years on behalf of employees in federal court, advised large entities on employee compliance, and assisted estate administrators in handling the property of their loved ones and in pursuing wrongfully transferred property.
Ms. Washington’s extensive experience also included serving as a Philadelphia Assistant City Solicitor, where she successfully litigated hundreds of cases involving experts in the physical and mental well-being of children and their families. Her wealth of experience was further honed during her service as an arbitrator and volunteer Arbitration Judge Pro Tempore (settlement judge) for the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia, where she presided over commercial transactions, real estate matters, and claims against transportation agencies and municipal authorities.
Ms. Washington received her Juris Doctor from Temple University School of Law and her Bachelor’s Degree from Brooklyn College, City University of New York. She was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar, as well as the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.
Throughout her career, Ms. Washington was dedicated to enriching her legal and civic community. She was a Voting Member of the Pennsylvania Bar House of Delegates and the former Vice President for the National Bar Association, Women Lawyers Division in Philadelphia. Ms. Washington was also the co-founder of the Legal Ministry at Sharon Baptist Church in Philadelphia, where she served as a deacon. Additionally, she served on the board of My Place Germantown, a non-profit organization that provides permanent housing for the disabled homeless, and volunteered as an attorney at educational workshops regarding property rights through the non-profit “Let’s See if We Can Help, Inc.”

Education and Background
Nick earned his law degree and graduated as a Dean’s Fellow from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. Early in his career, Nicholas served as Assistant Public Defender at the Defenders Association of Philadelphia. There, he achieved victories for hundreds of clients.
After leaving the Defenders Association, Mr. Kamau’s star continued to rise as he carefully curated his work experience and built an outstanding groundwork of legal knowledge. To hone his skills as a trial attorney, Mr. Kamau spent several years working at a leading litigation firm, studying and arguing the law while protecting clients in legal matters.
During the administration of President Barack Obama, Nick served as Democratic Counsel for the Congressional Oversight and Government Reform Committee under Congressman Elijah Cummings. In that role, he worked on important issues including Voter Protection, President Obama’s Affordable Care Act, Medicare Expansion and Renewable Energy Expansion, to name a few.
Over the course of his career he has been admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, California, Colorado, the District of Colombia and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Leadership
In addition to his legal prowess, Mr. Kamau is a leader in the legal and civic community. He serves on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association and served as the Board Chair in 2020. Additionally, he served as the Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Government and Public Service Committee from 2016 through 2018. An engaged member of the community, Nick sits on the Board of Directors for the Wynnefield Residents Association, on Board of Trustees responsible for the upkeep and preservation of Mother Bethel AME Church, founded in 1791, on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee at Waldron Mercy Academy, and is a member of the North Philadelphia Participatory Defense Hub where he provides support to individuals and families involved in the criminal justice system.
